Led by Mahi Kai Trust, Te Kohi Kai Noho is a unique kaupapa taking place during Youth Week and Smokefree May.
This event weaves together mātauranga Māori, traditional weaving, and the knowledge of kai gathering. It is a space for rangatahi to reconnect with cultural practices, learn from local weavers in Whakatāne, and engage in kōrero about the significance of kai, whenua, and hauora.
Throughout the event, smokefree messages will be interwoven—highlighting the importance of living well for ourselves, our whānau, and future generations. The kaupapa will culminate in a celebration, bringing together participants to acknowledge their learning, connections, and commitment to a smokefree future.
